Meet AJ

Hi, I'm A.J. Weimer

I’ve spent over two decades as a corporate pilot, flying clients to every corner of the globe. But long before the jets and the logbooks, travel for me came in the form of of riding cross-country on the back of a motorcycle with my dad. Eventually I would be old enough to ride alongside him instead of on the back, living out of our saddle bags, sleeping in tents, and battling the daily grind of getting to our next stop. He raised me to be tough, observant, and curious. That early exposure to the open road shaped how I see the world and how I move through it.

In the late ’90s, I joined the military and got stationed in Japan. Living there changed everything. I trained in martial arts, founded a martial art association, and later transitioned into the security world of executive protection—working many details in high-risk environments. But deep down, I still wanted to fly. So, following in my grandfather’s footsteps who was a pilot in WWII, I pursued aviation, earned my degrees and certifications, and started from the bottom. Today, I pilot multimillion-dollar jets for a living all over the world.

Through the years, I’ve faced delays, emergencies, missed connections, language barriers, bed bugs, food poisoning, and the occasional passport panic. I’ve experienced many cultures across our little planet that have deeply impacted my life.

That’s why I created Nomad Pilot Life—to share what I’ve learned the hard way so others can travel smarter, safer, and more confidently. This isn’t just a blog; it’s a collection of lived experiences, hard-earned wisdom, and lessons from 40,000 feet to the ground level alike.

Whether you’re a new traveler, a business road warrior, or just someone trying to make sense of life in motion, you’ll find something here for you. My goal is simple: help you move through the world with clarity, purpose, and confidence—no matter where you’re headed.
